Excel - Joining Two Cells
Called concatenation, this is a useful feature when working with database files you’ve imported into Excel.
To concatenate two or more cells, the basic formula is as follows:
CONCATENATE(text1, text2...) where text1, text2... are from 1 up to 30 items to be joined into a single text item. You can use text strings, numbers and single cell references.
Example: To join Cells A1, B1, and C1 the formula would be as follows:
CONCATENATE(A1, B1, C1)
Example 2: To insert values from cells into text
Cell A1 contains student name, for instance “Joe Fox”.
Cell B1 contains student grade, for instance “95”.
You wish to display {Student} received a final grade of {Grade}.
The formula would be as follows:
CONCATENATE(A1, “received a final grade of”, B1)
The result would be: Joe Fox received a final grade of 95.
