Kitchen Bouquet (Homemade)

CAMPBELLS, CARD, miscellaneous

1/2 cup brown sugar
2 cup water

Original directions: Put brown sugar in a pan on low heat and let it burn or parch, slowly stirring all the time. When it turns a dark brown, add water, stirring well. Store in glass bottle or small jar in refrigerator.

Success using: In small cast iron bean pot... put sugar in oven at 300°F until burnt (1-2 hours) without stirring... add water, stir and let sit in oven (turn off oven).

Adds color and thickens gravy just like the brand name Kitchen Bouquet browning sauce (actually use more generously than brand name)
