Categories:
CARD, main dish, miscellaneous
- - - - Storable Dry Mix - - - -
1 8 oz pkg medium egg noodles; (about 4 cups)
1/2 cup instant powdered milk
2 tablespoon all-purpose flour; (or 1T cornstarch)
1 tablespoon dried onion flakes
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon pepper
4 beef bouillon cubes
- - - - To Prepare - - - -
1 pound ground beef
1 package beef & noodle humble helper; (above recipe)
5 cups water
1 tablespoon ketchup; (a fast food packet)
1 teaspoon salt
To prepare mix: Combine the noodles and all of the other ingredients in a resealable plastic container (or use a zip-lock bag.) Label and seal the container. Store on the pantry shelf. This is enough for 1 package of mix. Make several at a time for the most conveneince.
To prepare meal: Use a very large skillet (12"). Fry the hamburger in it, breaking it up into small pieces with a fork. When it is cooked all the way through, drain off the fat if necessary. Add the water and bring it to a boil. Add the contents of the Humble Helper package. Stir it to dissolve the dry ingredients and then reduce the heat. It should simmer gently. You can put a lid on it if you like, but stir it rather often, because it has a tendency to stick. Cook the mixture for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the noodles are tender to your taste. Stir in the ketchup and serve.
Opt: stir in a couple of dollops of sour cream before serving. Opt: omit the noodles and serve over cooked white rice.
