The Supported Employment Program is a placement, training, and follow-along service for individuals with disabilities. There are two features that make Supported Employment a success. The first feature is the provision of individualized support for each individual with disabilities. This enables them to become equal participants in the competitive labor force. The second feature is the provision of a Job Coach.

The Job Coach is an employment specialist who functions not only as a trainer, but also as an advocate for each person with disabilities. The Job Coach is also a facilitator between the individual and the potential employer.

Why Hire A Person With A Disability?

The community benefits in economic growth when people with disabilities are helped towards independence. Once a worker is placed into the community in competitive employment he/she begins to contribute to the system of paying income taxes and social security. Persons with disabilities are as qualified and as committed as most other workers and have above-average record in safety, attendance and punctuality.

Our Philosophy

Supported employment is founded on the principle of individual worth. Our hope is that all persons with disabilities will be regarded and appreciated for their skills and accomplishments.

Benefits To Employers

The ARC, which is a national organization on mental retardation, assists businesses in pointing out occupational areas where workers with disabilities can alleviate man power shortages. The program will also reimburse an employer 50% of the entry wage for the first 160 critical hours of employment and 25% of the wage for the second 160 hours of employment. Employers have the benefit of having an on-site supervisor, in the form of a Job Coach, to provide training to the worker at no additional cost. This supervisor remains on-site until the worker has increased productivity to ensure employer satisfaction.
