Biographical Sketch
In the fall of 1956, I entered Mercy School of Nursing, Iowa City, Iowa. Following graduation and state boards, I worked in pediatrics at M.D. Anderson Cancer Research Hospital, Houston, Texas, and back to Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.
Frank and I were married in April, 1961. Frank is a refrigeration fitter and has worked at Iltens, Inc., for the past 25 years (he installs and services air conditioners and furnaces).
From 1962 - 1969 our four children arrived: Jennifer - November 1962, now teaching Special Education in Des Moines, will be married in July; Mary - April 1964, accountant, GE Capital, Cedar Rapids, married November 1993; Carmen - October 1965, married, three children, homemaker; Martin - June 1969, Criminal Justice major, Deputy Sheriff in Black Hawk County, will be married in April 1995.
During that time BDC (before day care) I worked nights in Pediatrics and Orthopedics at Mercy Hospital.
In 1969 we moved to Cedar Rapids. Since then, our time has been filled with the usual activities involved in raising children, our jobs (Frank at Iltens and I worked part-time at St. Lukes, Mercy, New Horizons, a drug research study for Ciba Geigy and private duty nursing), and various school, community and church involvements.
