Biographical Sketch
My how time flies, exactly 39 years ago we graduated from Kinross. Many things have changed since then.
I helped Dad on the farm the first year after graduation. In September of "56" I married Marvin and we lived south of Kinross for two and one-half years. He farmed with his Dad. In January of "59" we bought ground three miles east of Kinross, moved and lived there until "83." Then we built a home three miles west of Wellman where we live now.
In the meantime we have accumulated more ground and have had livestock (cattle, hogs, sheep, chickens, geese, ducks, ponies and a goat). Also, several motorcycles and a three wheeler which the kids really enjoyed. Of course, lots of fond memories with all of this.
We have five children, all of which attended Mid-Prairie Schools. Rhonda a nurse, Linda an accountant, James and Gregory both farmers and Alicia an accountant. They are all married except Alicia.
In "70" we started a bin business also, which we still have, selling bins, augers, legs, motors, etc.
I'm just a housewife (wife, mother, grandmother, cook, maid, chauffeur, gardener, bookkeeper, baby-sitter, etc.). As I mentioned grandmother, we have 12 grandchildren, ranging from 12 years to one year old, that we really enjoy.
The winter months we travel to Texas to visit our one daughter and her family. Snowmobiling is also a favorite, going to northern states several times a year and have gone to Yellowstone and the Black Hills. We think they are more beautiful in the winter than summer.
The summers when our children were home we'd go to the lakes in Minnesota. Now we have our own boat and go to Coralville or Rathburn quite often and even the Ozarks.
The last couple of summers, Marvin and I have traveled to the East and West Coasts and Canada. Also, a few trips to Florida, once to Hawaii, Bahamas and Mexico. Some shorter trips to Las Vegas, Reno, the Riverboats and even Tama.
The farming and bin business have kept us busy, but everyone needs recreation. As they say, "All work and no play makes a dull person."
We are very thankful for our healthy family and hope we can enjoy many more years together.
