Dear Corlyn,
Just a note to let you know I won't be able to attend the reunion. I have been slow getting back to you because I've been trying to rearrange things so I'd be free that weekend. It's not going to be possible the way things stand at the moment.
This must have been a lot of work trying to contact everyone. I hope you have a good turn out and tell everyone "Hi."
Sometime soon I'll try to find some mementos of our school years. If I come up with anything I'll make copies and send them on to you. I know I have pictures, etc., so will do some digging and see what I can come up with.
Can't believe it's been 39 years. Time has gone by so fast. I'm trying to think of some big accomplishment I've made. In some ways a lot has happened and in other ways the years have been uneventful. I married in "56." Worked at Square D, here in Cedar Rapids for about 10 years. We have three children and six grandchildren. We're both retired now and enjoy traveling, fishing, and spending time with family.
Since graduation I've seen Jackie. She lived in Cedar Rapids for a while. That's been a long time ago. Saw Henrietta at a rental store where I worked for a while. Read everything Noel writes for National Geographic. I also ran into Vernon B. at a garage sale a couple summers ago.
Sure hope you have a good turn out. I'm going to miss seeing you all.
Best Wishes
/s/ Donna Stoner Mrstik
A following letter:
Still can't clear the weekend of the reunion but will be think of everyone and hope it's a huge success.
Will try to summarize what's happened in the last 39 years. I married in 56 after moving to Cedar Rapids to work. Worked at Square D for about 10 years. Decided to quit and become an "at home mom." We had one daughter and soon became the parents of a son and another daughter. Around 1979 I decided to work outside the home again. I took a job at a rental store and worked around six - seven years as a wedding special events consultant. When my husband retired from the post office, I retired also.
We like to travel and garden and fish whenever we can get away. We have a daughter and one grandchild in Oregon. One daughter and one grandchild in Texas and one son and four grandchildren in Cedar Rapids. We get to Oregon and Texas once a year for a visit and see our son's children regularly.'
My brother (Myron) is still farming the family farm in South English. In 1981 Dad died suddenly. Georgene (my younger sister) died in 1983, Mom in 1985 and Wayne (my older brother) in 1986. We had various aunts and uncles (four total) die in that same time period. It was a bad five years.
Hope you enjoy the pictures I'm sending. You probably have more than I do but it was fun digging them out.
