Line Structure

I have noticed 3 distinct ways in which Al generally lays the lines and their contents down in his songs.

Listing

When read, lyrics are laid down as a long list of funny lines. Each element of the list has the same common theme or goal, but there is either little to tie them together or the list gets boring (redundency) after a while.

Common Exs.
"When I told you I need you baby, when I told you that I really care"
When I said that I can't live without you, when I said that I'd follow you anywhere"    [I Was Only Kidding]

Badly done: "My wife ran off with Elvis, my boss shaved off my hair"
I've got a thing for poodles, and rubber underwear"    [Talk Soup]

Well done:
"The position of Jupiter says that you should spend the rest of the week face down in the mud"
Try not to shove a roll of duct tape up your nose while taking your driver's test"    [Your Horoscope For Today]

Patchwork

Listing on a much more severe level. In this case, the sentences are almost slapped together like a patchwork quilt with barely anything holding them together.

Common exs.
"You see I'm naked in church when I meet a dinosaur, try to run but my feet have been nailed to the floor
Then a midget pushes me thru a revolving door, and I'm back in the very same place I was before"    [Stuck In A Closet With Vanna White]

Badly done:
"Love 'The Partridge Family', and 'Dynasty'
And 'Laverne And Shirley', and 'Hard Copy'"    [Syndicated Inc.]

Well done:
"You make me wanna slap my head against the wall, you make me do the limbo
You make me wanna buy a Slurpee at the mall, you make me watch The Gong Show"    [You Make Me]

Fluent

Here, the lyrics are put together so well, that they flow together as they should. These lyrics can be sentences or even one of the above 2 types but blended so well that they do not stand out on their own.

Common exs.
"
"    []

Blended list/ patchwork:
"Hit 'em in the nose tear off their clothes, step on their toes that's how it goes"
They get so violent they have to sign a waiver"    [Jerry Springer]

Sentence:
"I love the White stuff baby
In the middle of an Oreo"    [The White Stuff]
